Columbus Day closings in South Hampton Roads

Today is Columbus Day, meaning a number of government and school facilities will be closed today, including schools in Norfolk and Portsmouth. Here a complete list of closings. 

Courts and municipal offices

Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Suffolk City offices and courts will be closed today.

Norfolk City courts closed today; the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and the Commissioner of Revenue and City Treasurer's offices will be closed today.

Virginia Beach City courts closed today.

Most banks and credit unions will be closed today.

Garbage collection

Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk and Virginia Beach Normal trash collection.

Portsmouth Trash normally collected today will be rescheduled for Wednesday.

Hampton Roads Transit

HRT Buses will operate on a regular schedule today, with no service on routes 918, 919 and 922. Light rail will operate on a regular schedule.

Post offices will be closed today with no regular mail delivery.

Suffolk Closed today except for those used in before and after-school programs: Creekside, Mack Benn Jr., Northern Shores, Oakland and Kings Fork Recreation centers. East Suffolk Recreation Center will be open for the after-school Express Program, 3- 6 p.m.
