An Ex-Pat in the Outback!

Whether you live 100 or 100,000 miles from your home country, there is always that aching need to feel like you're not forgotten, that you haven't lost your 'Aussieness' or your'Americaness', whether it's in the form of an Aussie pub, an American Diner or in my case,Outback Steakhouse!
That's right, for 7 years, I've lived in the USA, and, I have listened to that very convincing Aussie accent promising bonza steaks, shrimp on the barbie, all the while trying to decide if he's a real Aussie or a bloody good yankee impression (jury's still out).
And with every stubborn 'I'll never go', there was always a 'but what if it really is, just like Australia'!
So, finally, I tarted myself up (not like a lady of the night), and was genuinely expecting that I'd be treated like royalty once they heard my Aussie accent, as though, wow a real Australian is blessing us with her presence!!!!
Oh, how quickly my ignorant balloon burst!
Now, I'm not going to sit here and say that I loved it or hated it, however, I will say just one thing...
What the heck is a BLOOMIN ONION, and who determined that Aussies eat these monstrous artery cloggers as our staple food?

I love America and I love SO many wonderful elements about it, but, as any ex-pat from anywhere (aren't most of us anyway) domestically or internationally, will tell you, there is always something that is just BETTER BACK HOME!
So come on, blurt it out, what is it, you always say 'oh back home we have......and it is so good'?
Crikey!
