VIRGINIA LIVING MUSEUM

The Virginia Living Museum is a very special place in Hampton Roads that is definitely worth many visits.

Virginia's natural heritage is the star at the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News. See endangered red wolves, bald eagles and a loggerhead sea turtle. Touch live spider crabs and fossilized dinosaur tracks. Living exhibits depict Virginia's natural heritage from the mountains to the sea. Hands-on activities, an observatory, state-of-the-art digital planetarium, outdoor boardwalk, green living demonstration house, native plant and conservation gardens add to the experience.

Upcoming Events:

Oct. 1-31 Walk on the Wild Side

Walk for the Virginia Living Museum during October to help the museum recover from the Aug. 25 flash flood. The museum is opening its boardwalk trail from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday during October for people to walk. Two loops of the trail equal a mile. The museum is also asking people to walk anywhere and any time on their own or with a group during October. Registration is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Museum admission is not included. Pledge forms are also available for people to solicit donations to reach a personal goal. All donations must be submitted to the museum by Nov. 5. Prizes will be awarded based on donations above the registration fee. Walk on the Wild Side is sponsored by WAVY-10, Fox 43 and Peerless Carpet Care & Restoration.
